The multi-storey car park is a 30 year Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) agreement which meets the Trust’s need to increase parking supply, while freeing up land for development at the centre of Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The new car park has helped alleviate demand of an increasing local population, which forms part of the extensive wider development at the hospital.
The services we provide are 24/7 and include the management and upkeep of the car park, enforcement, security, the parking shop and cash collection. Our main focus is on the customer’s experience and ensuring they have a seamless journey.
Our staff manage the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras located at the entrance and exit lanes of the car park. The ANPR system reduces queuing times, congestion on the hospital site and allows users quicker access to the car park. The Trust staff use top-up permits which registers with the ANPR system allowing them into the car park without the need of a ticket or the use of a pass card.
As part of the contract, Indigo manage the security service, monitoring the 100-150 digital CCTV cameras inside and around the perimeter of the car park, which meets with the Park Mark Safe Award criteria and creates a safe environment for visitors and staff.
The parking shop is sited at the east end of the car park and assists customers with any questions, ticket issues or payment issues. The team have remote access to the parking equipment which enables them to operate the barriers and payment machines in the case of ticket problems, machine faults etc. The CCTV centre is also located here where staff monitor the CCTV cameras throughout the day.
In addition to this, we provide a 24/7 customer support service form our centre, based in Watford. There is a dedicated team available to undertake notice processing, answer intercoms located within the MSCP and answer telephone and email queries. The support team assist customers with general questions, pay equipment, parking barriers, fire alarms and lift problems, when the parking shop team are unavailable.
Indigo in the United Kingdom ensures the management of the car park 24/7, reception, surveillance (by camera), verification that parking times are respected, connection to the remote operations and assistance centre and the collection of revenue.
