Canada Place is one of the most remarkable buildings in the city of Vancouver. The complex contains the largest cruise ship terminal in Canada, a 43,000 m2 conference centre, a 500-room hotel, an office development and a heliport for tourists. It receives more than 3 million visitors annually, and has an extremely busy 750-space indoor car park.
Since 2008, Indigo in Canada has been responsible for full management of the car park, and it has progressively implemented a number of solutions to optimise operations, increase revenues and improve ease of access and utilisation for users.
Indigo has made significant changes: introduction of a fully automated parking system; installation of more efficient signage; introduction of a free self-service bicycle loan scheme; and launch of a website specially for parking reservations, particularly for people leaving on cruises.
Canada Place is a key partner for Indigo Canada, giving it a high profile in the Vancouver metropolitan area. During the Winter Olympics in 2010, Indigo took advantage of the fact that the media centre was based within this complex to promote its image as an expert in parking management on an international scale.
What customers say:
“Canada Place is a multi-use facility that requires a parking operator to develop first-class parking solutions calling for hourly, daily and monthly valet services for hotel guests and cruise passengers. Canada Place Corporation appointed Indigo to operate the parking facility at Canada Place in late 2008.
Indigo has delivered an exceptional level of service, implemented reliable systems, provided effective traffic management, and developed marketing programs which have ensured that Canada Place parking revenue has outpaced the local market during challenging times in the parking industry. Furthermore, Indigo has developed effective relationships and been a beneficial partner to all of the stakeholders at Canada Place.
Finally, our ongoing experience and communication with the Indigo team remains strong. From on-site ambassadors to the local management and support team, and national management, all have been great to deal with.”
